The Migration Aware Project is a project funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Led by the team at the African Studies Centre in Coventry, this project aims to fill the information gap currently preventing potential irregular migrants in Ibadan, Nigeria from making an informed decision on whether to embark on the migration process. Using initiatives such as street performances, print campaigns, educational workshops and television programming this project aims to inform Nigerian people about migration by informing them of the realities of the journey out of Nigeria, the potential risks in the destination country and their alternatives to irregular migration.
Over the past year I have been working with the African Studies Centre to help out with some of the videos that have been produced by their partners in Nigeria. In the coming months I will be visiting Nigeria to make some short films about the project, and to speak with people about their stories and anecdotes of migration.
